About Us

Jenine Repice received her BFA in ceramics from SUNY New Paltz in 1998. She began her training 10 years before as an apprentice in a small pottery studio in Colorado. Her passion for clay has led her to studios in Vermont and thoughout the Northeast where she has apprenticed, volunteered, and worked as a production potter. She has taught in college and community studios in New York City.

Michael Humphreys graduated from Earlham College in 1992 with a BA majoring in ceramics. He also has an MFA from Bard College in sculpture. He has spent the last 15 years working as a studio tech in a number of studios around the country. Michael was trained in the Japanese aesthetic which focuses on well balanced, functional pots that can be used everyday. His work is sold in stores in New York City.

Hudson Valley Pottery and Flux Gallery have long been a dream of Michael and Jenine's. They met in New York City at a large community pottery studio where they both worked for many years. They often discussed moving to the Hudson Valley and starting a small, community based clay studio. They chose Rhinebeck because they love the town and felt that a clay studio would be the perfect addition. When their current space became available they realized the chance to make their dream a reality. Their goal is to make Hudson Valley Pottery an open and creative environment for both kids and adults where the community can come together to learn and have fun.
